Gemma Graduated from the British School Of Osteopathy London in 2005. She has since worked in clinics all over the country until finally setting up GW Osteopathy in Guildford/Godalming in 2012.
Gemma grew up and went to school in Guildford as well as being a member of many local sports clubs, she spent most of her time in a pool swimming for Guildford City swimming club. As a teenager Gemma did experience joint and muscles discomfort which is where her love for osteopathy started having been treated at a young age herself.
Having personally experienced a serious injury and a fractured wrist sustained while snowboarding—Gemma has developed a deep understanding of the rehabilitation journey. This personal experience left her unable to work and has sparked a keen professional interest in post-injury recovery, particularly in the treatment of fractures, breaks, and joint surgery. Her osteopathic and rehabilitation techniques are aimed at accelerating the healing process, restoring strength, and improving mobility.
Gemma adopts a patient-centered approach to her treatment and will listen to what the patients daily expectations and needs are. She places a strong emphasis on soft tissue work, sports massage, joint articulation, and stretching techniques. She is also experienced and confident in osteopathic manipulation/high-velocity manipulations (commonly associated with joint ‘popping’ or ‘clicking’) if necessary for the patient. She also offers a more gentle form of osteopathy treatment for those patients who may be particularly sensitive to more forceful techniques.
Her clinical experience spans across all age groups and physical conditions, from newborns and children to pregnant women, elite athletes, and elderly individuals. Gemma’s ability to adapt her treatment to meet the unique needs of each patient has earned her a reputation for compassionate, effective care.
Over the years Gemma has provided treatment to runners after completing the London Marathon, where she also provided hands-on care for runners and professional triathletes during training and competition She has also worked extensively with other athletes, including players from professional cricket and rugby teams, and continues to support high-level competitors in any sport at the clinic. Gemma is very competitive and still trains and competes herself in Hyrox and weight training events, she swears by doing this it keeps her strong and healthy to be able to treat her patients.
Having had two children Gemma has an understanding of the worries that new parents can face when unsure what to do with a baby who is unsettled. Osteopathy treatment can help and Gemma has experience from seeing her son treated osteopathically with great results to now treating many babies herself in clinic.
With her deep commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for helping others recover, perform, and thrive, Gemma continues to be a trusted and respected practitioner in her field.
